2 days ago was le anniversary with le fiancé and he brought me to eat the best katsu I’ve ever had!
After surprising me with my favorite flowers after work, we drove down to the restaurant and was VERY fortunate that we did not have to queue. We were initially expecting to queue as we planned to head over during dinner time and their online reservation site doesn’t accept reservations for some reason.

And I say we were fortunate cause after our meal, there was quite a queue outside.
When he mentioned katsu, I was delighted cause I’ve always liked katsu and places that sells katsu in Singapore usually has free-flow cabbage, rice and miso soup (which i absolutely love). But I wasn’t expecting something that would blow mind.
BUT THIS KATSU RIGHT HERE
TOOK ME BY SURPRISE
This katsu was first fried to perfection, then placed on a charcoal grill for it to “smoke”. I didn’t think much of it when I saw the chef putting it on the grill, like..what difference would it actually make? But I was SOOOO wrong.
The katsu had a VERY smoky flavor, so smoky and fragrant, you’d actually almost mistaken it for steak. It’s crazy, so mindfuckingblowing. Yet, it is not overcooked to the extent that the pork gets dry/tough. It was tender and with the right amount of fats, perfection.
This other Katsu, was meticulously cooked & fried. It was SO soft – I’ve literally never had such tender katsu in my life. And if you’re wondering, why is the meat still pink? Apparently it’s their specialty to cook this cut of meat till it is just right (not more or less) so that it will be THIS TENDER and it’s absolutely safe to eat!
Best part of all these –
IT WAS AFFORDABLE
With such quality, you’d be expecting each of these to cost around 50+ each? But no, it was priced in the mid 20-30s – which is what katsu franchises in Singapore charge too.
They also offered free-flow cabbage, rice, and miso soup. And they even up their game to offer miso soup that has great flavor & ingredients in them. There was also free appetizer – cold corn soup which was so uniquely new to my palatte I’m not sure if I actually like or dislike it lol.
I’d totally recommend this place to everyone. And if you’re heading down, just go straight for the grilled katsu. It’s just a couple bucks more but I promise you, it’s worth.
Took a stroll around the restaurant to digest a little before heading over to Dollop to take our yearly anniversary photo –
I REALLY LOVE DOLLOP PHOTOBOOTHS
Mainly cause they offer a variety of prints and most importantly, the basic looking one with dates printed on em.
Hoping with crossed fingers and toes that they’ll stick around till we’re done with life.
Can’t wait for the next already!
